Diane Richards - Buttonwood Designs

Textiles is a media that interests me in all forms. Throughout years of exploring and experimenting with different techniques such as weaving, spinning and leather work, I realized that quite often the end product of my projects was a useful bag of some sort.

While working in an upholstery shop, I was exposed to the exciting huge world of imported woven tapestries. Today, after 20 years of sewing handbags, I continue to be inspired and excited, by new ideas and fabrics, towards making a product that is useful, durable and attractive all at the same time.

I currently run a shop with three seamstresses that help me continue to design, cut, and sew each bag with loving hands and artful eyes.

Quality Features

Handcrafted in upstate New York in our smoke-free design studios, Buttonwood Handbags are cmprised of rugged tapestry fabrics and lined with durable poly-cotton material. All stress points are reinforced with sturdy antique brass rivets and double stiching. We use superior quality heavy duty "YKK" zippers that are made specifically for heavy usage both indoors and out. Fabrics have been treated to resist moisture and stains.
